5-STARS! On a recent vacation our Volks Jetta's first gear began slipping. The short of it is after a long run-around with local mechanics and with another Olympia transmission repair business, we listened to recommendations and praises for Thurston County Transmission (TCT). Not only did Jason treat us professionally when we walked in, he was straight with us about the repair (meaning there were no surprises later) BEST part is, yes they will use the better parts for your repairs; they will stand behind their work with a lifetime warranty (not 6-months like others), AND get this..Huge savings. With almost a 30% savings in comparison from the other Olympia transmission business. I have the other written estimate to prove the savings, and the other estimate had less to repair in their written estimate. Grateful Cheers and appreciation to Thurston County Transmission. They are really worth a moment of your time. We are from Grays Harbor County. P.S. We got the runaround in Grays Harbor County for transmission repair also felt like a scam between those business - you know the feeling). The one other Olympia based transmission repair business were nice and respectable but the price was not worth the fix for the value of the car. We are happy we left the Harbor for serious car repairs and got a second opinion in Olympia area with TCT. Best decision we made for our car. Thanks again TCT!! (September 2015)
I had TCT rebuild the trans on my 01 dodge ram diesel on the recomendation of a friend who has had two different vehicles trans re-built by TCT. TCT told me it was going to be great, I would change that to fantastic. My truck has never ran so strong. There is an obivious improved performance way beyond factory. My truck really moves out. I would recomend a Thurston County Transmission rebuild to everyone. Paul Anderson
I've dealt with many people in my career taking care of Soldiers. I just met these folks today. After multiple deployments, it is a very rare thing for me to instantly know I can trust someone. Jason shot straight from the start. No nonsense or BS. As a professional, I appreciate professionalism. My truck is in their hands next Monday. I'm confident it will return to me much better than it will be when I give it to them. Thanks Jason!
I am consistently surprised how caring, genuine, and trustworthy the people are at TCT. My car broke down in July of this year while on vacation and it left me stranded, thankfully in the town my brother lives in. He recommended TCT to have my car looked at, as this is the place he takes his vehicles to for work to be done. After having the work done in July and very happy with the service I was given, and the very reasonable cost. I now drive hundreds of miles away to have work done on my car by TCT due to once again their trustworthiness, caring, genuine, honesty, excellence in pricing and reliable work ethics. They have restored my faith in the auto industry that there are still decent shops out there. Kudos to them and I look forward to working with them in the future for any other automotive needs.
Honest, reliable repair work.
Brought in my 2001 F350 with low power hauling my 5th wheel trailer. Was expecting to need a rebuild of transmission. Larry correctly diagnosed the problem as leaking turbo, leading to low power. Jason and Larry helped me understand the nature of the problem, Tony rebuilt the turbo, fixed a leaking diesel line, and showed me the parts.
Thanks to Loi for transporting me to and from their shop. My truck runs like new, at 250K miles, it runs with new truck power. I strongly recommend using these people for honest and knowledgeable repair work.
Just met these guys about a month ago. They gave me a bid for a clutch job. It was fair but there was one lower. I took the lower.
The new clutch was a mess. It slipped and chattered. It was so bad I started looking for a new car. But I couldn’t sell the old in disrepair. I remembered Thurston County Transmission (TCT) and recalled all those trophies, awards, and certificates in the office. I wanted experts.
Jason was the go-to-guy. I said I wanted two things: an analysis of what was wrong and install a new clutch. That’s exactly what I got. They took pictures of the disassembly so you could see the problems. They wrote a statement describing the problems. They spent much time explaining everything. They emailed the pictures at 10:00 pm.
The repair used the best parts: flywheel and clutch kit OEM, ceramic grease that withstands 2500 degrees. The work was done by specialists. And Jason said don’t worry, which was reassuring.
Before I drove the car Jason said he’d seen a leak in the master cylinder and replaced it at no charge.
The clutch worked perfectly. Clutch and shifting hadn’t worked well in years. Now it worked better than ever, smooth and easy. What a relief.
And because of their analysis, I was able to get a full refund for both parts and labor for the other company’s botched job.
These guys are simply the best. It’s all about value. If you want the cheapest, that’s one thing. If you want the best value, that’s TCT.
Thanks again TCT for the great service! Special thanks to Larry for getting the mail car back on the road in short order. I know at most places you wait your turn in line, but you guys really understand the urgency of getting me back on the road and back to work. Thanks to Wayne for taking the sting out of a bad, and sometimes spendy, situation. see you guys in 12,000 miles!
Prior to going on road trip I took my used 2005 GMC Yukon XLT 2500 with 75000 miles in for transmission service. I also tow a travel trailer with this rig. Wayne found "noises" that I can't hear and subsequently found major damage to transfer case, transmission, and minor damage to one differential. They put me to "front of line" and got klus all fixed up in just 3 days. Now I have my sole vehicle in great shape for 2 week trip to see family and travel. Now I have a fully waranteed transmission. THANKS for the great effort! Joe Reder
I had my C-6 heavy automatic transmission for my 3/4 ton van rebuilt by TCT 19 years ago. It was re-built better than original including with a torque converter added. It's a great transmission. 19 years, and still in excellent condition! Guess who I have trusted to service it all these years since?
Thank you, TCT! Bob Howard
The Staff at Thurston County Transmission are the best! Larry and Wayne totally took care of me! I went to the Chevy Dealer first and after hearing the quote they gave me for a rebuild with no warranty I wanted to do some shopping around. After calling shops for two days, the guys at Thurston County Transmission were able to be everybody’s price and offer a lifetime Warranty!! The friendliness and service are far above any other shop I have ever been to. They have earned a life time customer from me. Thanks for everything Guys!!
I want to Thank Wayne And His crew for all their help my son is station Fort Lewis and needed to help him out I called Wayne answer the phone I ask for his help and in minutes he had a tow truck over to pick up the car. This is great because I live in Riverside CA not knowing Wayne he made me fill at ease took a look at the car and it need some work done to the transmission and some other parts of the car. He told me what it would cost and not a dime more honest people just one last thing every time I called I was given an up to date on my sons car. Wayne please let your Crew know what a great job they did if I am ever in Lacey I will stop by and say Hello. Once again great job
I found the guys at TCT to be knowledgeable, helpful, and good to their word. No charge for the diagnosis. They gave me all the information I needed to make a good decision with my car. Good Guys!!
You replaced a solenoid valve in my 2002 Ford Focus last week. The car is driving well now. Thank you for the repair.
I work in the acquisition and procurement industry and I know that service based industries have more highs and lows than product based industries. Products are created in a uniform fashion while services are only as good as the people that perform them. I want to tell you my Thurston County Transmission (TCT) story; it's a very positive one.
I traveled with my family from Olympia, WA to south Texas. In the middle of nowhere in a place called "one-mile out of Cheyenne, Wyoming" my car broke down. Other than wonderful Americans and robust cows, there's nothing in Wyoming and I was still 1,000 miles from my destination.
There was a nice mechanic that told me that my transmission failed. I knew that I had a life-time warranty on my transmission and I contacted TCT to figure out what to do. I had two options, I could have the transmission repaired in Wyoming or I could have it repaired by TCT in Lacey.
Either way, the repair was going to take time that I did not have; it was not going to be a quick fix. I continued on my vacation but in the background TCT had my back. People may differ but I wanted the people working on my transmission to be accessible and local to me. I elected to have the car repaired by TCT. They set up and paid for transport of my vehicle back to Lacey, WA.
Life's not fair and I wish the vehicle had never broken down. I want to remind you that I was in a very weak position far away from home. Any company could have simply not honored their agreement and there would be very little that I could do. I can only tell you that TCT stood behind me, stood behind their work, and had my car ready upon my return at no costs to me. They engendered a high level of trust that gives me confidence that they are honest. TCT is my repair company of choice.
Excellent service! They were really great about working with us on payments since we needed a whole new transmission.Lifetime warranty and not to mention, the free towing. We will definitely come back.
Thank you TCT for the great service, great price and timely service. Being a college student and this being my only vehicle they got m e up and going quickly with quality work
Your facilities unexpected kindness in repairing my van is so appreciated. My van is the only way I have of getting out of the house so you know how important it is to me. Thank you sincerely. (2012)
I want to thank you for your persistence and dedication to quality work in pursuing leaks from my old BMW's transmission. A less-responsive shop might have disclaimed responsibility as the poor vent design clearly was not your fault. But you covered the costs of solving the problem under your warranty for rebuilding the transmission for the previous owner. Believe me, I'll do what it takes to keep that warranty in force, and I won't hesitate to recommend your shop to other potential customers.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! We could say that a thousand times and it still wouldn't adequately express our gratefulness for all your effort and quality repair work performed on the transmission and drive train components in our van. From the beginning of our association with TCT, you listened to us, to the description of our van's problems, and to the frustrations we'd had with "service shops." You realized that, although you had nothing to do with previous work performed on our van, you had the difficult task of rebuilding a new customer's trust in "repair shops" that was destroyed by the inept, shoddy work and management of two previous "repair shops." Your diagnosis and estimates were realistic and your effort to walk a "Saturday Mechanic" through your findings and proposed resolutions was greatly appreciated. The work performed was top-quality; the follow-up care and contacts have also been top-quality. Your support to your mechanics should also be commended. By thoroughly trusting in them, you provide and added assurance and security to your customer that the work is being done right. In short, for TCT the "proof really is in the pudding" as you repeatedly proved by sticking to your word, by sticking to your original estimate, only amended by approved additions from us, by providing quality work, and by us not having to bring our van back again and again and again to take care of all those "little details." The work was done and checked so it would be right the first time. Because of this, we have been, and will continue to be, very vocal in supporting and recommending TCT as "The Business of Choice for transmission and drive train repairs." We are proud to be associated with you. (1996)
I wanted to take the time to express my appreciation for the quality help that I received when I brought my 93 Lincoln Town Car in for a service. As it turned out , there was nothing wrong with the transmission. There was no charge for the time and effort that was put into ascertaining the difficulty with my vehicle. I sincerely appreciated the time that was spent looking at my car to help me understand the nature of the problem and giving me the knowledge as to where to take it to be repaired. Unfortunately, the service that I received from your establishment is not typical in today's market place. It was a welcomed encounter. As opportunity arises to recommend your business, I will do so without any hesitation. Thank you for the quality support that I received. (1999)
Dear Sirs, Let me begin by saying I do not take this lightly. I am staking my word on the same. Otherwise it is nothing less than cheap flattery. In Aug of 1991 I had the engine replaced in my 1983 GM van. At this time I also had Thurston County Transmission rebuild my transmission. Oct 1993 the transmission failed due to a fractured internal component. At this time you rebuilt the transmission at no cost. I was shocked to say the least. I expected to pay for something. December 1995 I had the engine replaced for a second time. This time I had a 6.2L diesel replaced with a 350 cu. in. gas engine which required the transmission to also be reworked. Again it was at no cost. Unbelievable! I would have felt great getting a $200.00 bill, but once again you said "No Charge." I have been MORE than a little pleased with the transmission since the first rebuild. What is far more refreshing is to find someone in business today whose word is completely trustworthy. Thanks again for a GREAT JOB. (1996)
First, we want to thank you so much for being the business that you are. Never have we experienced such efficient, superior, and customer oriented service in an automotive shop. You rank supreme. The manager answered all our questions fully and with knowledge, he also explained them on a lay persons level. He explained the warranty information and let us know when our vehicle would be completed. You will be our top choice if we ever need transmission service again and we would recommend you to any of our friends and/or family that need repair or service. Thank you again for your exceptional level of customer service and quality of work. (2003)
I would like to extend to you our appreciation and thanks for the transmission repair you performed on our church van, It is used by our youth and children's programs, and by many others throughout our church. Each ministry is grateful and will enjoy the reliability and dependability that the van now has. Your words of encouragement and advice regarding the van are also appreciated. Thanks again. May the Lord Bless you and your business. We truly appreciate your efforts. (1995)
When I took my car into Thurston County Transmission, I had no idea what had to be done or how long it would take.
The manager told me in detail what would be worked on, how long it would take and what it would cost. He put my mind at ease by patiently answering all my questions. Since I am a senior citizen, it was a great relief to be treated with courtesy and respect. They gladly helped with my transportation getting me to and from my home. I am so glad that I took my car to Thurston County Transmission. My car was in competent hands and now drives like a breeze, thanks to the all the staff. (2002)
We are writing to thank you for the quick and efficient service you provided on the repair of our car. The staff was courteous, responsive to our needs, and willing to "go the extra mile" in helping us. Since we are a family of four, and our second car only seats two, a quick turn around was very important to us. You were able to fix our car two days quicker than we thought was possible. This saved us uncountable problems. We thank you and appreciate you. (2002)
Thank you for service and integrity that is too rare these days.
I chose your shop when the transmission failed on my suburban as you had the best warranty that I could find.
I would recommend your shop to anyone and will use no other shop myself. If you have a prospective3 customer who would like to contact a reference you may give them my name and number. (1997)
I am writing to extend a sincere thanks for the service you provided for me on my vehicle. I was referred by my brother whom I am grateful to.
I live in Issaquah and was hesitant about servicing my vehicle so far away until I spoke to the manager on the phone. He immediately put me at ease, was extremely professional, and fit my service work immediately into his busy schedule. I appreciate and I am grateful to the whole staff of Thurston County Transmission for the professionalism, high quality customer service and work performed on my truck. I am very impressed with the Lifetime Warranty on my transmission as well.
Once again, thank you so very much. You guys ROCK! (Jan 03)
I was traveling to a show in my classic pickup and developed a serious transmission leak. I pulled in to their shop and they dropped what they were working on to help me. They had me back on the road in less than one hour for under $100 dollars. Thank you so much for your great service.
Glad to see that there are still honest, friendly, family businesses out there. On our way thru town heading back to Ca, we thought what we had was a transmission problem. They looked it over, on their lunch time, determined our catalytic converter had failed. We unhooked our camper in their lot, went to get that repaired and got back on the road within hours. There was no charge for their service and I commend them on their FRIENDLY, FAMILY service.
The lifetime warranty that I have on my automatic transmission thru TCT has been the best invest on my truck, I have kept up with the regular maintenance intervals as required and this warranty has proven itself to be worth everything I have spent on it. My engine decided to go on me so I have had to replace that recently and my transmission still runs strong. I was required to bring the truck back after I had a new motor put in to make sure all was working good. I know TCT is the place for all my future vehicle work, kudos to this business.
Larry and the guys at Thurston County Transmission are simply the best. My BMW 745i was giving me the blues, numerous errors, jerky gear shifting. Initially diagnosed as a TCM(transmission control module) problem with a cost of $3500.00 I was ready to park it. Larry and his guys checked it out and repaired my car at a cost of less than 25% of the $3500.00 original estimate. Thank you Larry. Thanks to the guys at general repair shop for recommending you guys. Saved me a lot of money. Very Happy!
